 December 18,1960-August 26,2020 Pastor Mary Mitchell, co-founder of the New Life Church, Inc., will be forever remembered as an anointed outgoing leader, with a strong belief in the gospel of Jesus Christ. She was always ready and open to be used for His glory. She was empowered by the Spirit of God to be a loving and laboring leader in our community. She counseled battered women, misguided youth and single parents. She was used of God in ministering to married couples in developing positive and spiritual goals for their marriage and also aided them in recognizing the importance of marriage vows.

God our Father adorned her to be a vessel of elegance, excellence, and evolution. Excellence is the quality of being outstanding, extremely good, high quality, distinctive, superior. Elegance is the quality of being graceful and stylish in appearance or manner.  It’s often associated with a standard of tastefulness. Pastor Mary was the embodiment of style and grace.  She was beautiful both inside and out.
Evolution speaks of increase, growth, expansion, development, unfolding and changing through time.
In December, 1998, God used Pastor Mary Mitchell, as a vessel of elegance and excellence to birth the Women of Worship Ministry. Arguably, the Women Of Worship Ministry, affectionately known as WOW, was her favorite ministry assignment. She birthed and nurtured WOW with the love and affection that a loving, Godly Mother has for her child.  Through her leadership WOW evolved into a powerful women’s ministry with an annual conference that encourages women through Praise, Worship, The Word and fellowship. Each Conference was an elegant meticulously planned masterpiece executed with excellence. She was indeed a gift to the body of Christ – and to the women of the New Life Church in particular.  She poured so much of herself into WOW. It evolved into such a powerful ministry that attracted participants from the North, South, East and West of our City, County, state and nation.

The Word declares in Matthew 20: Beginning with the b part of verse 26 and ending with verse 28 (MSG)
“Whoever wants to be great must become a servant. Whoever wants to be first among you must be your slave. That is what the Son of Man has done: He came to serve, not be served—and then to give away his life in exchange for the many who are held hostage.”
 Pastor Mary was a great servant!  She willingly gave away much of her life in spreading the gospel to the unsaved and interceding in prayer for many. 

Anchored by her faith and love for God, she walked in confidence as she lovingly and faithfully ministered to and served with her husband of 35 years, Bishop Roderick Mitchell, Pastor and Founder of the New Life Church. Love, Joy and Peace abided in her relationships with her Husband, Their son Isaac, Her parents, Oscar and Dorothy Butler, Sr. Her siblings and extended family, Her friends, The New Life Church family (HOW SHE LOVED NEW LIFE),The Miletus Covenant Connection family, her spiritual father and mother, the late Apostle Nathaniel Holcomb and Pastor Valerie Holcomb of The Christian House-of Prayer and Covenant Connections International Ministries and all other ministry affiliations, with whom she was given the opportunity to serve with in the Kingdom of God.

The Word of God declares in James 1:17 (MSG)“Every desirable and beneficial gift comes out of heaven.  The gifts are rivers of light cascading down from the Father of Light.” PASTOR MARY MITCHELL was a gift given by God to walk on the earth and show forth His Love, Mercy and Grace!!!!!
